Our story begins in northern Maine. This community is home to hard-working and dedicated families.

Over the years the population has dwindled and the resources have become scarce. In recent years there has been attention given to revitalizing the region.

Several years ago a regional economic developer worked with the communities and collaboratively created a Katahdin Gazetteer (link to PDF). This regional roadmap paired with the need to allow young people to be more self-directed in their learning and the knowledge of untapped community resources led to the creation of the Katahdin Children Families Foundation (KCFF).

The foundation is comprised of a three member board and advisory committee. The mission of KCFF is to serve as a bridge from school to community by supporting the following: reducing barriers to quality childcare and parent learning/education; providing learning opportunities beyond the public school; connecting children and families to their community. KCFF believes that healthy families build strong communities.

We reduce barriers to quality childcare and parent education. We provide learning opportunities beyond the public school. We connect children and families to their community.
